{"id":1550,"date":"2021-02-09T16:37:56","date_gmt":"2021-02-09T16:37:56","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/rnca.fccn.pt\/?page_id=1550"},"modified":"2024-03-19T11:06:12","modified_gmt":"2024-03-19T11:06:12","slug":"organizacao-2","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/rnca.fccn.pt\/en\/organizacao-2\/","title":{"rendered":"Organization (backup)"},"content":{"rendered":"<div style=\"height:50px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>The RNCA \u2013 National Advanced Computing Network \u2013 is managed by <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/www.fct.pt\/financiamento\/programas-de-financiamento\/computacao\/\" type=\"URL\" id=\"https:\/\/www.fct.pt\/index.phtml.pt\" target=\"_blank\">Foundation for Science and Technology, IP (FCT)<\/a>, designed to provide advanced computing services to the research, technology, and innovation communities. It was created by the Digital Skills Initiative <strong><a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/www.incode2030.gov.pt\/\" type=\"URL\" id=\"https:\/\/www.incode2030.gov.pt\/computacao-avancada\" target=\"_blank\">Portugal INCoDe.2030<\/a><\/strong>, through Council of Ministers resolution 26\/2018. It was integrated into the National Roadmap for Research Infrastructures of Strategic Interest (RNIE) in April 2019 through Order No. 4157\/2019 of the Office of the Minister of Science, Technology and Higher Education.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>According to its internal regulations, the RNCA has the following organization, after formal appointment of its respective bodies:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:20px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-group\"><div class=\"wp-block-group__inner-container is-layout-flow wp-block-group-is-layout-flow\">\n<div class=\"wp-block-group\"><div class=\"wp-block-group__inner-container is-layout-flow wp-block-group-is-layout-flow\">\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"aligncenter size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"552\" height=\"294\" src=\"https:\/\/rnca.fccn.pt\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/12\/orgRNCA2-1.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-1110\" srcset=\"https:\/\/rnca.fccn.pt\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/12\/orgRNCA2-1.png 552w, https:\/\/rnca.fccn.pt\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/12\/orgRNCA2-1-300x160.png 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 552px) 100vw, 552px\" \/><\/figure><\/div>\n<\/div><\/div>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:26px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>Where,  <\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>The \u201cCoordination Council\u201d is the highest management body of the RNCA, consisting of a representative from each Operational Center and each Competence Center.<\/li><li>\u201cRNCA Manager\u201d is responsible for conducting the RNCA\u2019s activities and is accountable to the Coordination Council.<\/li><li>The &quot;Access Committee&quot; is responsible for implementing access to RNCA resources. It reviews and prioritizes usage proposals from user communities, based on an access policy.<\/li><li>\u201cExternal Advisory Committee\u201d, which supports the FCT and the RNCA bodies, advising them whenever necessary, on the strategic direction of the RNCA.<\/li><li>\u201cRNCA User Forum\u201d, which is the body for sharing knowledge and advice by the wider RNCA user community.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:39px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-media-text alignwide has-media-on-the-right activity<\/span><\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-pullquote\"><blockquote><p>Infrastructure<\/p><\/blockquote><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li><a href=\"https:\/\/rnca.fccn.pt\/en\/?page_id=34\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"><strong>W<strong>Operational Centers<\/strong><\/strong> <\/a>(CO)<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>COs provide the user community with advanced computing services as well as the corresponding technical support services, with a set of minimum requirements that they must meet, particularly in terms of technological capacity.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/rnca.fccn.pt\/en\/centros-de-competencias\/\" type=\"URL\" id=\"https:\/\/rnca.fccn.pt\/?page_id=637\">Competence Centers<\/a><\/strong> (CC)<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"translation-block\">The CC guarantees the user community, in a logic of proximity, supports the effective and efficient application of advanced computing resources, namely technical support services, information visualization, training, advice and aid for program development.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li><strong>Connectivity<\/strong> between centers<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Centers connected through a dedicated high-performance network provided by FCT-FCCN and integrated into the Science, Technology and Society Network (RCTS) \u2013 which guarantees interconnection and internet access up to 100 Gbps for the teaching and research community<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:96px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-pullquote\"><blockquote><p>Infostructure<\/p><\/blockquote><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li><strong>Management<\/strong> <strong>and financing<\/strong><\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Implementation of public policies to bridge the gap between existing infrastructures that are complex and expensive to use and people, in order to promote <a href=\"https:\/\/rnca.fccn.pt\/en\/?page_id=98\" data-type=\"page\" data-id=\"98\">access <\/a>to high-value services and software.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li><strong><a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/rnca.fccn.pt\/en\/?page_id=122\" target=\"_blank\">Partnerships<\/a><\/strong><\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>To promote the adoption of standards and best practices to create interoperability and cooperation between entities<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li><strong><a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/rnca.fccn.pt\/en\/?page_id=607\" target=\"_blank\">Applications,<\/a> data security and storage<\/strong> <\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>As tools to support Advanced Computing <\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/rnca.fccn.pt\/en\/?page_id=64\" data-type=\"page\" data-id=\"64\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Usage statistics and reports<\/a><\/strong><\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Monitoring and implementation of the National Advanced Computing Strategy<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:97px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-pullquote\"><blockquote><p>People<\/p><\/blockquote><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li><strong><a rel=\"noreferrer href=\"https:\/\/rnca.fccn.pt\/en\/?page_id=270\" target=\"_blank\" data-type=\"page\" data-id=\"270\"><strong>Events<\/strong> <strong>and Disclosure<\/strong><\/a><\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Promotion of
