Pre-exascale supercomputer, co-funded by EuroHPC JU<\/a> and by the Mare Nostrum 5 consortium, led by Spain and which also includes Portugal and Turkey.

The system, hosted and operated by Barcelona Supercomputing Center (BSC)<\/a>, is based on the solution Bull Sequana XH3000<\/a> provided by Eviden and Lenovo ThinkSystem architectures, with a peak performance of 314 Petaflops, or 314 million trillion calculations per second. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

It ranks #8th on the Top 500 list of most efficient supercomputers, and #15th on the list of the world's greenest. Its architecture, equipped with liquid cooling systems and energy-efficient HPC technologies, makes it an extremely green supercomputer, despite its impressive computational power.

European researchers and users from the public sector and industry will be able to access this new system through national calls for proposals (CPCAs) and through calls for proposals managed by the EuroHPC JU.

The acquisition and operation of the EuroHPC supercomputers Deucalion and MareNostrum 5 are jointly financed by the EuroHPC Initiative, through the European Union's Connecting Europe Facility and the Horizon 2020 research and innovation programme, as well as by the participating states Portugal and Spain for Deucalion and Spain, Portugal, Croatia and T\u00fcrkiye for MareNostrum 5.<\/em> The national part of MareNostrum 5 is financed by Investment RE-C05-i08 \u201cMore Digital Science\u201d of the Recovery and Resilience Plan \u2013 PRR<\/em>.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n
