Additional Information

The RNCA - National Network for Advanced Computing - is managed by the Foundation for Science and Technology, I.P. (FCT), and is designed to provide advanced computing services to the research, technology and innovation communities. It was created by the digital skills initiative Portugal INCoDe.2030, through the resolution of the Council of Ministers 26/2018. It was integrated in the National Roadmap of Research Infrastructures of Strategic Interest (RNIE) in April 2019 through Order No. 4157/2019 of the Office of the Minister of Science, Technology and Higher Education.

These are essential components of the RNCA:

The OCs provide the user community with advanced computing services as well as the respective technical support services, with a set of minimum requirements that must be met, namely in terms of technical capacity.

The CCs guarantee the user community, in a proximity logic, support functions for the effective and efficient application of advanced computing resources, namely technical support services, information visualization, training, advice, and support for program development.

INCA intends to survey the national needs in scientific computing media and the solutions to be adopted to meet these needs.

The information collected by INCA will be used to inform the developments of the National Network for Advanced Computing, which aggregates a set of important computational resources of national scope, as well as for the revision of the National Strategy for Advanced Computing.2023. to be carried out in 2023.

In the context of this survey the term "Advanced Computing" refers to the various high-performance computational models used to solve problems of high complexity and cost.

The Inquiry is the responsibility of the FCT, under Subparagraph (t) of Law Decree 55/2013 [1]and its operationalization is done in partnership with the Directorate General of Education and Science Statistics (DGEEC) and the National Innovation Agency (ANI).

This survey is digested in the National System of Science and Technology, evaluated and financed by the FCT, which presents itself as a fundamental pillar in the consolidation of the modern and competitive scientific system - for it encompasses all scientific domains integrated by entities, structures and networks dedicated to the production, dissemination and transmission of knowledge.

The deadline for completing this survey is August 11, 2023.

All data collected will be under the responsibility of the National Advanced Computing Network.

It is estimated that filling out this survey takes between 10 and 15 minutes.
